What's New?

03/22/2002:
I've completely updated the entire KallistiCon page. All information on the KallistiCon site is current as of today. Interested? Join the KallistiCon mailing list by sending a message to kallisticon-subscribe@topica.com.

02/06/2002:
I got kind of upset about something, and added a 2002 update to my annual VD event. Read the update for more info.

02/04/2002:
Finally added a bunch of pictures from this past KallistiCon. Check them out here. Yes, there a lot more pictures besides those, but I didn't want to put them all up, so you'll just have to come to this year's KallistiCon to see the album.

02/03/2002:
Created a site mailing list for news of updates and calls for suggestions to the site. Want to join? Email discordianupdates-subscribe@topica.com to subscribe. Added the Discordian reading list that I've been working on for a long time. This is a work in progress, and is by no means finished. Email me with book list suggestions and urls of reviews to link to. Please keep your suggestions to fairly essential reading material, since there are way too many good books for us to list them all. Also, added TechnoPagan Blessing for a Leatherman Tool, an adaptation of something I found on the web (used with author's persimmons). Made a couple of small changes to my about page. Added links on the main page to the Erisian Ring of Integral Spokes, a very high quality webring run by Prince Mu-Chao. For once, a web ring where not only do all the sites work, but they're actually all interesting and recently updated too! Crazy. It's still a small ring, but the sites in it are all pretty big, so check it out for hours of entertainment.....

02/02/2002:
Cleaned up the main center page. There were a few news updates there and since I didn't feel like interspersing with the updates on here, I put them on a separate page. Officially opened Buy Discordian! today. Hope y'all like it.

02/01/2002:
Ok, a million things have happened to me since I got laid off last May. KallistiCon happened, and was a lot of fun. I had 23 people tell me they'd come, but in reality we only had about 13 or so. Still, it went over really well, and there will be another one. I went travelling again. I moved about 23 miles south of my old apartment, into a huge house that will probably be the main venue for this year's KallistCon. I started back in school for the first time in 5 years, and did really well my first quarter back (a sick and work-starved Discordian - 23 units, 5 classes). Still no job. I mean, the net.economy is fucked, and that is where I made my cash. These days, I've been spending my time on Yahoo Instant Messenger (name stmae), and reading/posting to both LiveJournal (no, I'm not mentioning my username, it's a little more private than this site is) and Craig's List. I've also been spending a lot of time sending mail to people I don't know from PostcardX.net.

Unfortunately, I haven't been spending a lot of time working on this site. Why? I'm not really sure. I think a big part of all the updates that got done for a while was my job - I was sitting on the computer doing work, and it was just natural for me to have five windows open at once, and since I like to do a bunch of things at once when I'm online, I'd do work in one window and irc in another and edit this site in another. I used to sit in my cube at work hours and hours after I was done with work for the day, because I'd get started editing something here and just have to finish it. It didn't hurt that I was hooked up to godlike bandwidth, either. These days, I'm making do with a really bad dial up connection, which sure doesn't encourage long-term projects.

Anyways, what I guess I'm getting to is that I'm really sorry about neglecting the site for so long. I have submissions to the site from probably over a year ago that I still haven't actually posted. (If you're one of these people, double apologies go to you.) Several Discordian.com members have sort of gone missing (Bezoomny! I miss you! Email me!!), and the site really needs some maintenance. I've not been really reliable lately (brain chemical issues) so I'm not promising anything, but the sheer fact that I'm here now and updating some things (updates to the love mail and hate mail sections) means that maybe the ball is rolling again.

I'll try.

05/10/2001:
Added some updates and links to the Make Connections section. I've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes on a sorta sekrit projekt to be released soon. It should be finished before 5/23, so keep checking back.

05/04/2001:
On May 1 (funny how that works, eh?), Saint Mae got laid off from her nice cushy tech job. Luckily, they gave her a severance she can live on for about three months. What does this mean? Well, with the current job market, it means that Saint Mae has one big long time to party and do all the stuff she's been wanting to do for a while. It kinda sucks because hey, the job was nice and the company was cool - but at least two months without work but with enough money is a really good deal and Saint Mae really kinda needed it about now. So, expect to see a lot of changes within the next two months. Added New Slang - Saint Mae's attempt at spreading a meme. Added The Prettiest One, a Discordian hymn.

03/30/2001:
KallistiCon: A Discordian (un)Convention is happening in San Francisco in June. Created a seperate full site for it. Figured out how to write frames myself! (My webdesigner made the ones on this site.) Also added Pope Key Linus' Views on pranking, as well as his bio. Added Invocation of Eris by Hicutus (really amazing - check it out!), as well as his bio.

03/14/2001:
Added Dim's Discordianism: views on the Erisitic semi-faith by a new member. Added Valerian's Thoughts on belief/reality filters. Added Dim's bio. Added Discordian Symbolism & the Brain by the Dalai Lemon. Added Sacrament Expansion and Rob's Views on Pranking, copyright Rob Brezsny 2000 (to clear any confusion - Rob Brezsny is not a member of Discordian.com, but he should be).

03/09/2001:
It's been a long time since I had the right space to really work on this, and I feel like a bad parent for neglecting my duties. I have a lot of submissions to sort through and several that for sure will be posted soon. I've also expanded my reading, and found a few more powerful excerpts that belong on here. Watch for this happening within the next week or so. Other stuff: created a new version of the members-only email list on Topica. Yahoo bought eGroups, and promptly refused to recognize my account, so we moved. Also, I've been working on getting my own server into co-location so I can host a mail server and a web server for a couple of upcomming pages. The good news is that my server is finally racked and connected in Hurricane Electric's 17-storey datacenter in San Jose. The bad news is that it worked... until it got hooked up in the new space. We're re-installing Solaris, and hopefully it will be happy from there. For the geeks out there, this server is an old Sun Sparc 5 of mine. It's running Solaris 7. It has a decent ammount of ram (I forget how much), and is running a mirrored raid on a 12-disk multipac.

01/23/2001:
The San Francisco Bay Guardian thinks that Saint Mae is one of the reasons to still live in San Francisco. Yay for media coverage! Also, added link to PostcardX, a nifty address randomizer for people to send post cards to. Add your address today!

01/21/2001:
Added two new parables to the rants page. I recently finished this really really good book called _The 48 Laws of Power_ by Robert Greene. It's very Machavellian, and a lot of the laws are kind of fucked up. But each law is illustrated with historical examples that I found fascinating. The two parables were from other books, quoted by Robert Greene. If you get a chance to, check this book out. It's extremely well written, and the historical examples and quotes are fascinating.

01/20/2001:
What are you doing for February's celebrated love fest? Join St. Mae in having a Happy VD. Added four pranks by Jester. See the Pranks & Magic(k) page. Also, finally linked new member Ozgar the Unamable's bio.

01/12/2001:
Added new rant, Cuss for Good Health. There are two new members pending, they should be added within the next couple days.

01/11/2001:
Werd! I've been working on a hellza lot of stuff tonight. First off, I've added two new members: Craig and Saint Durrutti. Neither have yet submitted their bios, so they've been written by Saint Mae for the time being. Added new rants - The Parable of the Commie and the Treehugger, Happy New Year!, and The Ownership Liberation Front. Updated the members page. Updated each member's bio to show the writings they've authored. Behind the scenes, I created a members-only email list.

01/10/2001:
So, EZBoard can fuck itself with it's banner ads - we have something much better: our own Erisian php/sql programmer! Yes, Discordia has seen fit to rain programming upon Discordian.com. Very soon, the sleeping beast of the Make Connections section will awaken and show it's fangs. Keep checking back for more updates!

01/05/2001:
Added Merry Consumermas!, a rant on the benefits of jingling change during the Discordian December holidays. Text written on 12/22 originally on this page.

01/04/2001:
Well, happy New Year. Sadly, there were no riots and no aliens. What's up with that? Anyhow, I changed a few things tonight, mostly the front page you got to this link from, and a thing I'm writing that's not done yet. In fact, there are *lots* of things in the works at the moment. St. Mae is considering advertising with a few whacko counterculture sites, and has begun price negotiations to this effect. There are a couple of things St. Mae is writing that aren't finished yet, but likely will be soon. Craig & durrutti (new member and not-yet-soon-to-be-member) have a couple of writings that St. Mae has yet to HTML-ize. An awesome and bored programmer has offered to write a board for St. Mae. Things keep getting better and better.

12/27/2000:
Please note update on 01/10/2001 - we will not be using EZBoard. Yay! This message retained due to laziness only.
To EZBoard or not to EZBoard... that is the question. Someone emailed me a suggestion for my Make Connections board - that I use EZBoard, a web-board service provider. It's pretty cool - very customizable, lots of functionality. But, as with everything - there's a catch. With EZBoard, it's their ads, or your money. The service is free - if you allow them to place three ads on your page (two full banners, one about 2 inches square). That's a lot of ads! One at the top and two at the bottom. I'm not much of an ad-fan to begin with, and the concept of having ads on a site of mine really bugs me. But their ad-free version is $19/mo. Now, I'm not all that broke, but there's lots of cool stuff to do with $19/mo. That being said, if enough of you out there think you'd use the board, I'll gladly fork out the cash. So, tell me what you think. Would you use a web board to meet local Discordians to spread the chaos in the real world? And how would you feel about ads on it?

12/22/2000:
Well, for starters... this page is new! We've just added a new member, but he doesn't have his bio ready yet. We're in the process of adding the work of our new member, as well as a couple of offerings from St. Mae's head. We're also putting together a CafePress store (Discordian.com stuff!).
