It is my sad duty to inform you that Robert Anton Wilson has passed from this earth as of January the eleventh, two thousand and seven.

I cannot possibly explain what the man and his works has meant to me, though no doubt I will try, endlessly. My life has been indelibly shaped by Discordianism, and I know the same is true for many. Even now, I am in Europe because of my work with Discordian.com, financed in part by other Discordians. At the very least, Discordianism has made a hell of a lot of people laugh.

There is to be an official memorial in February sometime, with details listed at the above site or at rawilson.com. It will most likely be in Bob's hometown of Santa Cruz, CA.

Discordian.com is scheduled to present ritual at PantheaCon (pantheacon.com), a pagan convention in San Jose, CA that takes place over the President's Day weekend in February. Our intent was to host a Papal inaguration with Pope cards for all; now there will also be a memorial service for one of our greatest heroes.

February might be a good time to visit California.

If you're coming, ping me here at stmae@discordian.com and we'll try to hang out some.

If you or your people intend to host a memorial service or conduct Discordian ritual or make random art in Bob's (or Eris') name, please let me know and I'll pass the word on.
